The New York Optimist

written by John Sebastian- Publisher
In the small town of Spring Lake, ....there is the most comfortable little hotel called The Château Inn. From the very
first glance I knew I was going to love it. The lighting was moody and atmospheric, adjusted just the right way as to
accentuate the looks of the guests staying here. Upon entering the room I was happy to see a big king size bed with
comforter and large pillows making me feel at ease immediately. The room was cozy, perfect for two , and adjoined by an entertainment room just behind it with a big leather couch , a bar and a nice HD flat screen TV. The expansive porch off
the bedroom , overlooking the town's park was "picture perfect".
We opened a bottle of bubbly purchased at the liquor store next door, (the hotel suggests that you BYOB),
turned on some jazz music, sat back on the big comfy couch and relaxed for a little while before heading out for dinner...After an evening in this small town---how do I describe it in a word ? --upscale , affluent-- well thats two words but I
think those words will go a long way in describing the whole town of Spring Lake,NJ. Here are a few others: well-
dressed, Ferrari, Lamborghini, mansions, and what I will assume is lots of old money (although we all know what
happens when you assume).
The next day we woke to see many happy, well dressed families at the Inn's lobby/dining area. Their serve yourself-style
breakfast included fresh pastries, muffins, coffee and tea....confirming that optimism
does exist even in Spring Lake NJ ;--)
We recommend the Chateau Inn for a romantic autumn or winter stay as many rooms are equipped with fireplaces and
deep jacuzzi tubs.
3. Spring Lake Christmas Celebration Kick-off | springlake.org
http://offmanhattan.com/2010/11/16/thanksgiving-weekend-events-nyc/
Where: Spring Lake, NJ
Why: This town’s Americana flavor is just the elixir for urban families looking for a kinder, gentler Christmas. The main drag, 3rd Street, is the venue for the evening’s festivities, and it’s only a few minutes walk from the train station. Hayrides, Santa’s Workshop, cider and donuts, a tree-lighting ceremony and Christmas carols are all planned for this seaside town’s low-key celebration, and its all free.
It is an easy day trip, at just over an hour each way, but if little ones get tired the town is chock-full of quaint inns for a mini-vacation. Families will feel right at home at the charming Chateau Inn & Suites, with its communal fireplace and complimentary cookies and cocoa. In the morning, borrow the Inn’s cute pink bikes and head down to the boardwalk for an easy ride, perfect for those who have just said goodbye to training wheels.

Just 3 blocks away from the train station, the Chateau was formerly a Victorian home built circa 1888. Known in the 1950’s as the “Summer Home of the Stars”, many luminaries of the silver screen cocooned at the Chateau, including Basil Rathbone, Geraldine Page, and Ann-Margret. Fast forward 50 years and the Chateau is still sought out by bold faced names looking to relax in unpretentious luxury. Recent guests have included supermodels, Broadway stars, actors, and bad boy rockers on their best behavior! "... For the complete The Black Dress Traveler story click here.

Breathe in. You're anywhere in the world. Breathe out. You're in Spring Lake.
"But for those with an appetite for luxury, the Chateau Inn is the place to stay. Each room in both the main house and the adjoining and more modern villa has a marble bath, at least one large flat screen TV, a sumptuous bed, and fragrant Aveda amenities".....
"Sometimes more is less. It's startling to realize that The Chateau beside the lake is less expensive than the inns near the beach".

Article -- Spring 2008 - Bucks County Town and Country Living -- Spring, 2008 By Judith Worley
The Irish Riviera...Recently renovated, the Chateau reminds me of a European Boutique Hotel-elegant and sophisticated, yet because of its relatively small size retains its warmth and friendliness....my room was no exception. Situated on the second floor, it held in addition a four poster king-size bed, a cushy sofa flanked with reading light quality lamps(always a good sign), a two-sided wood burning fireplace and a balcony overlooking the sixteen-acre lake, just right for daydreaming or an aperitif before dinner.
