Chateau Inn & Suites Endures the Economic Recession by Going Green

February 21, 2009

PR SPRING LAKE - Faced with the current economic situation, Chateau Inn has decided to go green and become more energy efficient to save money while being eco-friendly. W

ith the current economic crisis, many businesses are looking for ways to save money; going green allows them to not only become eco-friendly but energy efficient as well. Chateau Inn & Suites, located in Spring Lake, NJ, has chosen to become energy efficient by doing green renovations on and making eco-friendly choices within their Jersey Shore inn.

Chateau Inn has done a variety of energy efficient renovations both indoors and out. Indoors, the Chateau has installed water conservation toilets in most guest rooms, installed energy efficient heaters and radiators, and centralized a fire system. They also have energy efficient lighting in all common areas, guest rooms, and exterior lighting. External renovations include replacing old windows with more efficient ones, replacing landscaping with more drought resistant plants, and re-siding over half the inn with cedar siding. Done by local companies, these changes reduce both environmental impact and energy cost. The reduction in cost will help them to weather the economic recession.

Additionally, Chateau Inn has implemented the use of green cleaning products and several eco-friendly staff and guest participation programs. As part of water conservation efforts in hotel laundry service, the Chateau has included a guest participation program to hang bath towels rather than launder after each use. Environmentally safe detergents are used in the laundry facility and green cleaning supplies are used throughout the inn. There is also a guest participation recycling program for plastics, glass, cans, batteries, and printer toners.

Spurred by their understanding of the impact the economic crisis has had on their customers, Chateau Inn has also "rolled back their rates to 2008," which means that they have decided not to increase their rates in 2009. This is the first time in over forty years that rates have not been increased. Furthermore, they are passing on the savings from the energy efficient renovations to their customers with value friendly packages for the winter and spring and summer promotions on the hot deals page of their website, www.chateauinn.com.
